Teleported to my base and some bound guys ran into my base. I killed them all but now with all the doors closed and a decent comfort level I cann't rest. It's flagging environmental and threatened status.

So where the door with the red symbol above the door in the right corner there is a small hole that you can crouch through and will let you get outside of the map and let me progress further then i had actually unlocked

The equippable gear from the first pet you get at the first outpost is enough to overcome the 20 gear score requiremetn to move to the next area. This renders the first level of crafable gear unimportant to progression.
