Companion and I keep dying

When my companion and I are both at home base without any rain or anything that could harm us we both start losing health. The companion proceeds to enter a loop where it keeps being injured and as soon as I save him he dies again nonstop. There's nothing that could be causing the harm and even I lose health and I don't know what's causing it at all
