Greetings Devpeoples,

This post is part of the Community Theorycraft Project. Something where multiple members of the community gather together to discuss existing and potential new additions to the different elements of this wonderful game. Things we would like to see, we would like to change, and ways to go about doing so.

This topic of focus is The Bound, the gruesome creatures unleashed by the Pale. We dive into the wonderful theme and flavour presented by them. In fact, so captivated were we by this particular topic, we may have overdone it slightly, exceeding even our own estimates of total content. This has resulted in this submission being the largest one from the CTP to date.
As such, we have decided to split this into multiple separate topics, and link each one within the forewords so those interested can travel from post to post with ease.

Materials of the Bound

This particular post is regarding the materials dropped by the Bound. As part of this, we propose to dramatically reduce the superfluous clutter of Bound materials, which has occurred since the v0.3 Update, which added Tiered Bound materials to the game. We also propose some thematic name changes, along with statistical changes to several materials, changes to which Bound drops what, and what the individual materials can drop as.

It aims to address issues with drop rates of certain materials, to make the statistics of the materials competitive when compared to other material types, and provide some wonderful thematic elements toward the materials themselves.

Note: As part of the thematic naming changes, we would ideally love to see updated Art icons for the items and materials to set these materials apart, and to fully express the gruesome element of the Bound and what is used in their creation.


Consolidating Materials:

Many of the current Bound materials are, essentially, duplicates. Since the existing materials had a Normal and Advanced version pre-v0.3, to allow for power scaling, this is no longer required since using the Tiered system takes care of this inherently. As such, we propose that these duplicated instances be combined, tier for tier.


Example:

Combine T1 Bound Fibre and T1 Advanced Bound Fibre, merge the items and make them a single item. Merge T2 and T2 Advanced to a single item, and T3 and T3 Advanced to another.

The materials themselves have essentially the same stats, and merging them will allow for easier scaling in future, reduces clutter, and allows for easier understanding since all other creatures in the game now function on the Tier based system.


Materials Changes:

Here we shall list our retouching of the Bound materials. We have made listings for what the materials are, what they can drop as, where they drop from, whether we have renamed them (and what we renamed them from), along with their attributes for all the currently available tiers.

Bound Skull Fragment

Counts As: Bone
Drops From: Caprine, Fiend, Bruiser, Knight, Strix
Can Drop As: Bone (75%), Horn (25%)
