I need the option to dig a well so I can continue gardening easily. I crafted eight watering cans so I don't have to run up and down this hill I wanted to build on, but it's still a pain. (wouldn't mind an easier way to tell at a glance, without equipping the can, if it's full or not)
Or relocate next to water. That's something I learned from my first playthrough. Now my buildings are in a lake in the desert. Not that I garden at all anymore. Lost too many seeds on it. But it's great for fishing.
Put down a rain water barrel or 5 and drop a tempest minor realm card. Now you have water on site forever.
