Command keys need to toggle

Currently the "E" key activates many things, open chests, etc. But to close the opened item, one must reach for the "CLOSE" button way up in the right corner of the screen. It would be MUCH simpler and more intuitive to have any key simply toggle it's state by using it again. On/Off - open/close. No need to reach or use a different key to revert the action of any key. The current set up is rather clumsy and not well designed.
